The collaboration of the Hellenic Olympic Committee with Henry Dunant Hospital Center as Sponsor of the Tokyo 2020 Greek Olympic Team was announced today at a special event held at the HDHC’s Amphitheater by the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Mr. Spiros Kapralos, and the Chairman of Henry Dunant Hospital Center, Mr. Gerasimos Tsiaparas. 

The collaboration, which ensures free coverage of athletes’ health needs - in pre-participation screening, diagnostic tests, as well as interventions or hospitalization, whenever it is needed - practically supports all athletes who prepare for the top sports event of the planet, accompanying their efforts with high-quality medical services in one of the country’s most modern hospital centers. 

It’s a social sponsorship within the wider “Adopt an athlete on the way to TOKYO 2020” program designed by the Hellenic Olympic Committee to provide multiple support to the plan of Olympic preparation and the team of athletes claiming a place in the Olympic Team.
        
“We are proud for this collaboration, and we will seek to extend it to more sectors through joint actions with the Hellenic Olympic Committee” pointed out the President of Henry Dunant, Mr. Gerasimos Tsiaparas. “Undoubtedly, he added, this collaboration is fully in line with the strategic objectives of Henry Dunant and the Bank of Piraeus, in the context of corporate social responsibility. In that context, we have a long partnership with, and continue to support the efforts of the national teams of several sports federations. With the decision, however, to stand by the athletes as Supporters of the Greek Olympic Team, our message becomes much bigger, demonstrating our support of all Greek sports and of the athletes who serve them and want to raise the country even higher. It’s a common goal we have with the Hellenic Olympic Committee, and our compass for our actions”.    

For his part, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Mr. Spyros Capralos said during the announcement of the partnership:     “Henry Dunant will provide diagnostic tests, hospitalization services and surgical operations in the event of accident or illness, ensuring help for all our athletes if need be, a help that every one can understand how important it is, especially for people who work out and train so intensively for so many hours every day, and for whom an injury is the biggest hurdle they may encounter on the road to Tokyo. Now, these kids are all going to be in good hands, which makes everyone  in the Hellenic Olympic Committee happy; but I think that this comes more as a relief for the athletes themselves, as they realize that these medical examinations have ensured for them prevention—which everyone knows is the major factor for dealing with the problem effectively—and understand that in the event of illness or injury, a well-trained and qualified medical and nursing staff will be there to give them the best possible treatment.”

At the special event, which was attended by representatives of the political world, the medical community and, of course, the athletes who are already planning their personal preparation for the Tokyo Olympic Games, the CEO of Henry Dynan Hospital Center, Mr. Themos Charamis made an extensive reference to the hospital center’s plans for continuous upgrading of its services.
 
Lastly, Vasiliki Millousi,  President of the Athletes Commission of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, in her own message for this important partnership stressed: “It is very important for athletes to have medical coverage during such period of intense and painful preparation, which is aimed at the Olympic Games. The partnership between the Hellenic Olympic Committee and Henry Dunant brings our obstacles down...”
